Hello-
I'm a new member to the forum, and I recently inherited my father's 50 caliber percussion cap Hatfield rifle.
I haven't shot it in years, so I took it to Williams Gun Site Co. in Davison, MI to get reacquainted.
I think I have everything I need, except for one thing; I can't release the barrel to give it a good cleaning. There are two set screws under the ramrod holders that release the front end of the barrel, but I can't get it to disassemble, and I'm afraid to put too much pressure on it.
I'm hoping someone in the forum has a copy of the parts list and assembly guide for this weapon.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Will Hatfield

What you are refering to aren't set screws. They screw into the barrel to hold it on. But you also need to remove the lock bolt that goes through the tang, and the tang bolt to get the barrel off. Hope this helps.
