Finally got the rod pipes inlet and pinned, that seemed to take forever. Got my factory made scrapers in today also.

Got the trigger assembly fit the best I could. Kind of a compromise between inletting depth, bending, filing and grinding the triggers themselves to function correctly with the lock. Then on to the trigger guard fitting and inletting. Still need to pin the trigger guard.

Been Rendezvous the last few days, but back at it now. Got the side plate fit and the butt plate. Easiest butt plate I’ve done with the help of pre cut from Pecatonica.

Now to the toe plate but got a couple questions first. I would assume the screws would most likely go where I show them in the picture and not one in the cup below the flame tip / finial thing ? Also what are some favored tools to get into the tip area of the flame tip / finial area ? That is curved and tight, looks easy to get sloppy.

Two thoughts on your toe plate. One, be sure your rear toe plate screw will not interfere with the lower screw on your buttplate. Two, a good tool for working in such tight places as that finial is an Xacto knife with the blade reshaped to a blunter point, with a slight edge or thinning on the top of the blade. That slight edge lets the blade into tight places. I used a grinder to blunt the blade- two seconds on the wheel, then into the water, repeat several times.

I ground one of my small chisel’s. Got it inlet pretty good but it was a challenge.

Finished filing the toe plate and went ahead and put the screws where I thought they looked best. I’m happy with it. Now to the nose cap.

I agree with your screw placement (but my opinion and a ticket will get you on the bus). The inletting looks pretty good from where I sit :)

Worked on the drum today and wanting opinions on this idea. I’m not committed yet as I haven’t drilled and tapped for the nipple yet. 1/16” naval brass washer to make up for the relief cut for the threads on the drum. It gets me another full thread or so of grip on the 13/16 .40 cal barrel.

Well I ended up getting a new drum that’s threaded all the way to the shoulder to solve that issue. Been shaping the stock and trying my hand at some simple molding lines. All I have is some riffler files but they seem to work pretty well.

In the white now and not too late to change some things so let’s hear it I have pretty thick skin. Not trying to be a copy of any original, just a club, offhand rifle and squirrel popper. The sights are interchangeable with the primitive set that came with the parts set.
