Klaus its been awhile, sorry for the late post. I did really well at 50m off hand, scored as well as I would normally using the Bugg Roberts Minnie bullet, so nearly a 90 from memory. The 100m off the bench was a real disappointment. I suspect my rifle was more fouled than I realised and shot ver poorly. I did wipe the rifle but likely not quite enough. I also think that the glue I applied to the outer wrapper and the ver hot lube may have allowed the paper patch to adhere to the bullet and that will be detrimental to good accuracy. I am currently making up another 40 rounds and have only place a little glue on the outer wrapper where the powder tube first contacts, I have also used clay base plugs in some of the ammunition, they may not be a perfect fit but still work a try. I am going to try some 68 grain FFFg charges and see how that goes. I feel I am almost there just have to keep tweeking. I will be down the range in 10 days or so and will photograph and report then

Gentlemen, the results of the testing, all the bullets with expansion plugs performed the worst, that is both the .568 and .55 rounds. The best group all up which is pictured was shot with 68 grains of Wano FFFg and the unplugged .55 round Point of aim was full sight at the bottom edge of the target. I had 1 round extra which I did shoot at the 100 yard target and that was full sight at the bottom of the black the ball landed in the 8 ring at about 11 o'clock. I wiped the bore after each 5 shot group, I had two key holes, both with plugged .55 bullet , one with the 57 grain charge, and one with the 68 grain charge. All rounds were wieghed within two grains, charges put through my powder thrower and checked by balance scale a couple of times during the charging process. Paper was Beinfang 360, and all slit. I could see the paper patching coming off at each shot near the muzzle, i.e. pieces of confetti blowing around. Lube was paraffin oil and beeswax. I will make up another batch of the .55/68 grain and try them again at both 50 and 100 m off the bench. The group I shot was a 9/10 ring and near as good as I can do with my regular Burton bullet by Trevor Bugg. image
