Cutting at the muzzle is historically correct. But precut is known back to the earliest rifles.
Black Powder Maniac has a good idea. A strip of patching material that is folded and cut almost through. He thumb starts the ball and then does a quick pull on the strip, it tears off without a hitch.
I gave it a try and it works, but I like my precut.
Some like to think about being fast, but it’s a ml, even the best practice of military cartridge is a minimum of twelve seconds, and that’s a ton of practice.
Take your time. Ml is a sport of time. One minute, two minutes five minutes it’s all the same.
Stop and smell the sulfur and grease and burnt spark.
