I shot the minies from another .50 hawken when I first got the mold and it was a shotgun pattern . I added the aluminum tape and it grouped great . FBC
 
Inserting a thin sheet of some material between the halves of the mold, historically paper, is called beagling a mold. No adhesive is used. I don't know the source for the term, but it has been around for a number of years. The additional thickness makes a slightly larger projectile.
 
Thanks for the great info in this thread. I’ve got a line on a renegade locally. It’ll be my first BP gun, sounds like it it was well taken care of it’ll be a good one.
