The Hawken Shop makes or used to make a set of steel furniture for the TC that was like the original Hawken, trigger guard, nose cap, buttplate, etc. Would really make your gun look like a Hawken.

I did replace a wood stock on my father's T/C with a PR curley stock. It was pre-inlet for everything but the patch box which we did not want anyway. It was not a drop in replacement, but not all that hard. You can get the standard preset buttplate of cut to your size with a band saw. I used cabinet scrapers and some wood carving chisels to clean up the inletting. You will need to get some marking substance such as lipstick, lamp soot or inletting black to get the metal to mark the wood to be removed in order to get a decent fit. I also used sand paper on wood forms to get the shape and wood to metal fit to work correctly. Aquafortis stain and a heat gun made the color pop out.

My father was quite pleased with this gun and I considered doing this for my T/C. However, after totaling up all that I wanted to change, I realized that I could almost have a custom gun kit for that money, so I ordered a kit and built what I really wanted. The T/C is a back-up/loaner gun. It has been used to introduce other people to the ML world.

They also make an original Hawken Patchbox. If you want one.

And when you do let us know , that one has come up here more than a few times the last yr or two Plink Ive thought the Ly was bigger parts - lock ect. Thanks Fred :hatsoff:

Will do. I'm not ready to start that project until I finish a few others, but I really want to do curly maple instead of the drab wood that came with the kit.

I don't own a T/C Hawken, but I'll compare lock size to my New Englander (same lock). I figure that the trigger guard, and possibly the trigger assembly are different too. I'd like to have a patchbox inlet for the Investarms box as I like the look better than the T/C one. I may have to send my parts to them and have them inlet. I don't think I'm up to that just yet.

Plink, actually inletting locks and such is a fairly simple process if you have patience and can work with sharp handtools, you shouldnt have too much problem, get a copy of the Gunsmith Of Greenville County, read it, then jump in with both feet, but remember measure and configure 3 times... cut once, and take a good look at the building tutorial here on the forum by Master Mike Brooks, when in doubt, log on here and ask away, somebody will have the answer.

I sent PR a quick email about TC vs Lyman compatability, will post the response when I get it.

If it were me, I think I would have them inlet the lock (I think the locks are generally the same size) and do the trigger and trigger guard, and butt plate myself. If the Lyman lock is abit bigger, it wouldn't be bad to enlarge the TC inlet.

I got a reply from Dick at PR. Looks like all you have to do is call and ask them to inlet the stock for Investarms parts, simple as that.

I have two full stock Hawkens inletted for the Investarms parts. One is a CM1 grade ($137.50) and the other is a CM2 ($157.50).

Thank you,

The two times I've called them they were more than helpful! I just ordered a Dickert kit from them and they were able to answer all my questions very easily! Even the dumb ones.
