The double pedersoli I had years ago had a flaw. The left hammer was not positively on half cock. The trigger blades were too close to the sears, blocking the sear from fully entering the half cock notch. It looked like it was on half cock, but a pull on the trigger would release the hammer. Just filed the top of the trigger blades down a little bit so it would work correctly. Something to be aware of.
Interesting and I will certainly check that. While I have had this gun for a while it is really new to me so that is good information. Thanks

Try wool felt wads and get rid of the fiber wads. They work better than the hard fiber. I use 1/4" or 3/8" pure wool felt which are lubed with either bore butter or
more likely olive oil and bees wax. They work great.

already cut and on the bench waiting for some better wads. Lubricated 1/8" (Duro-felt) wads go in my hand guns and rifles. They should work in a smooth bore. I do not intend to use fiber wads unless I try the wet wad on top
idea but thanks

I do not know how many times I have said this in these forums so I am going to say it again .
All you need is a volume load if its 12 then 2.3/4 drms of FFg or FFFg , then 2, 1/8 over powder card wads that can be cut with a punch followed by 1.1/8 of shot and finished with a 1, 1/16 card wad This is a volume load most here in the UK measure in drams for black powder so to ease matters 1drm equals 27.5 grains. Well good shooting , this load will bust clays and shoot small game eg pheasants partridge grouse out to its killing distance of 35 to 40 yards

Right! Shooting frontier cartridge in SASS a thousand or so of the unmentionables have been loaded and that is what is used in roll crimped plastic (ew) unmentionables. 4c/c FFg and the same Lee dipper of shot. Works like a charm and I see no reason that same squareness won't work in a front stuffer.

Thanks, i checked mine and it is OK. that hammer spring is heavy, but should insure positive ignition with RWS 1075 caps.

A muzzleloader doesn't get initial pressure up like a cartridge gun can.
The crimp and a 209 really help to get pressure up. Makes a difference.
That's my findings but.....

right now until some decent over powder and over shot wads come in the twice barrel is on the back burner.
Two revolvers and a couple of Sharps rifles are at the head of the "to do" list.
But thanks to y'all for the help putting me on the right track.
