I liked his evaluation of the SXS. The shotgun would have been nicer if it did not have that ridicules hideous checkering and those sling swivels :barf:

I agree.

A nice simple checkering or a "skip line" checkering would be much more classy than the basket weave nonsense they used.

I suspect that the SxS double-flinter was NEVER intended to be HC, but rather that it was intentionally designed to bypass the anti-"modern gun laws" that numerous countries have. = Flinters are NOT even considered to be WEAPONS in several nations.

Watched it yesterday.
He was enjoying it wasn't he.

B.

Yes it certainly looks like he was enjoying shooting the gun .
If Pedersoli want to send me one for free , I am sure I would enjoy it too .

They do have to walk a line between a good gun and a salable price. I’ve seen people knock their Bess and Charlie’s, and one would think a production NWG could be produced without the changes they made.
No production gun will ever match a custom or similar custom gun.

TOO BAD that Pedersoli insisted on doing ANY checkering. = Plain would look as well, imo.

There is a rumour that Pedersoli will bring out a plainer version of the gun .

I'd pay more for a plainer version without that ghastly simulated basketweave.
I wonder if the cocks could be changed to something that resembles originals.

That’s a trueism. I know checking goes on some of the finest hand made guns, and stamped on to el cheapos I always thought it ugly. I don’t know if you would have enough wood to sand off.

I just went back again, looked carefully at the stock & agree that there simply isn't enough wood to pare that horrid checkering off & still have a stock.

I'm also wondering of the tubes are thick enough to rifle one of them to say 1 turn in 60"??
(I've neve owned a flint combination gun of any sort. = A 20-gauge PRB should work well for feral pigs, Axis & WT deer.)

yours, satx

Bores are chromed. That might make rifling problematic. Maybe one barrel could be sleeved.
