Hello to all.
I'm considering a used Pedersoli Kentucky Rifle, .45 cal. Any advice or comments appreciated. Price seems right, conditions look good from the pics. I was looking for a 50 or 54 but the price on this 45 makes me think about it.

Thanks

I've always thought they were an attractive rifle.

.45 is very good on deer, in it's range and if you do your part. That is shoot well and have good shot placement.

They are very good to 70 yards or so maybe a little more with Patched Round Ball.

Don't know about your build, but I'm 6'4" with gangly arms. My Frontiers are both a little short in shirt sleeves, but just about right in a winter coat. Dunno about the Kentucky, but that's as close as I can come to a "complaint."

The .45 is more than adequate on deer as well as hogs and in fact, many elk have been taken with the "little" 45 caliber. All round ball bullets loose velicity more quickly than modern shaped bullets so if you're coming from a center fire rifle hunting experience then you need to learn to get closer to your game animal and most importantly, practice with an accurate load that you've found for your rifle putting the RB where it counts on your choosen prey. Go for it if you like it and if it's a good price.

Thanks for the reply's, turns out the Pedersoli got sold over the weekend, one of the hazards of shopping on line. I'll keep looking.
