Pedersoli poor quality

I believe this one will be my first and my last pedersoli I ever buy. From the price and quality of the rifle and the way their customer service representative responded to my email. I thought about calling them and explaining everything if they have someone who can speak English. Bad experience overall with them.
That sure is disappointing. I'm fortunate that my two Pedersolis are first rate in fit and finish. I do have an older unmentionable, where the wood has shrunk away from the tang; I use a similar coloured wax stick to infill the gap between metal and wood, so it becomes less noticeable. I hope you get yours swapped out, but if not, give a wax infill a try (a mate used a kids crayon stick).

Kind regards, Pete.

I've got 4 Pedersoli's (frontier, Bess, sxs, and flintlock scout SB). Only one I'm not impressed with is the scout. I added the ramrod since they couldn't be bothered to include it for the price, but it is flimsy and slides out all the time. The bracket for it had to be bent to get it onto the barrel but took its shape back after install.

But the biggest issue with it is how the trigger and sear meet up. It either doesn't engage, becomes a hair trigger, or doesn't properly drop the **** to hit the frizzen. I've fiddled with the screws to get it just right but I don't find it reliable to shoot. I can't be certain the shot will go off or will go off before I acquire the clay.

Had a minor issue with the frontiers lock. Didn't have good closure between frizzen and pan...powder could dump out. I replaced it with a drop in RPL and it's perfect now.

Nothing special about the sxs. I'd buy another if I could find a decent price.

The prettiest is the brown bess. Don't care about the historical deviations, it's a fine looking musket and shoots well.
Yea I wouldn’t be confident to take out the scout as well with all the lock issues. My frontier came with a ramrod that was really flimsy and appeared to me to be made out of pine. I ordered a hickory replacement rod from TOTW and it matches the stain of the stock really well.

Thank you for the suggestion. If I can’t get it swapped I may take it to my local custom gun builder and see how much it would be to blend in the high and low spots.

I considered a totw replacement rod for the frontier, but I only use it at the range and the delrin range rod I already had fits. I do need to get a replacement rod for the sxs as the original shattered during use.

Really disappointed to hear about these quality issues with Pedersoli. I bought my Pennsylvania flint about 6 years ago. The fit and finish was good. I tuned the lock and stripped the satin finish off so it was more to my liking, but no glaring issues at all. I have no reason to ever buy another one, only reasons not to.
My Pedersoli was bought new nearly 20 years ago and although it was a tack driver it's over all quality stank. The lock was unsafe as out of the box it would not reliably hold at full **** and the wood and finish were very poor although the fit was good. The barrel metal was very soft and extremely prone to external rust despite taking care to prevent it. Ruined me on Pedersoli.

A range rod is next on the list for mine.

I contacted them 2 days ago and explained the issues with the stock. Just waiting to hear back from them. Pedersoli actually recommended that I ask the seller if they will let me swap it. I’m not firing it until I know for sure I’m stuck with it.
I would return it if you can because those issues will bother you every time you pick it up. I have a 1996 Tryon and it's really nice and a great shooter.

I’m waiting to hear back from the seller and it’s the first thing I look at when I pick it up. I’m hoping the seller makes it right even though I believe perdersoli should.

I have a few Pedersoli products and they are all pretty decent. Good fit and finish, but I have a couple that aren't so nice in the locks. I also some Kibler rifles and would chose any one of them over the Pedersoli guns, You might want to consider a Kibler if you can return that Pedersoli. The Kibler guns are head and shoulders over the Pedersoli's in quality and accuracy.

Fit and finish, wait to you try and shoot it, We got 8 shots off before the frizzen went down range and it was 10 months for Dixie to MAKE us a new one.
It was a several year battle on what was going to break next.
Called it the "Ye Ole Fence Post" fore I wanted to drive it into the ground.

Im not saying they are all bad, just saying it s a pig in a poke buy, comes down to, do you fell lucky?

Hope things workout for you. I have there 12 SxS from about 10 years ago and fit n finish is very nice. You definitely have anyone considering a purchase to double think. I you were to be building a rifle and you would have done those mistake’s probably would feel different or get new stock but you paid good money for it to be done right. Again hope it works out!

I’ve had a few Pedersoli rifles and a couple shotguns. So far I have been satisfied and beyond satisfied with two of the Gibbs rifles. None of them were newer than 2005 or so.

I have a couple. Good guns. I’d just fix that yourself. If you like the rest of the gun. My frontier/blue ridge is my most accurate.

I don't think it was caused from a worker's sanding, but rather from whatever machine they are using to cut the stocks out.
I bought one of their KY pistol kits that had a huge flat spot in it. It took a lot to work to get it completely out and then even up the other side so the grip was symmetric.
IMO the same could have been done to yours before finishing it and shipping it.

I’m very happy with an old Ped. Bess I bought used but a recent Trade Gun had a minor routing bobble behind the tang. Could be worked out if one wanted to refinish the stock. I don’t, so I live with it and it really is minor. Seems a lot more companies are satisfied using the consumer as their QC Dept. A disgusting turn of events IMHO. I got an Uberti 1851 a couple of years back that never should have left the factory and I told them so. The replacement revolver was perfect.

Thanks for the suggestion I’ll look in to one of those kiblers if they can only do a return and not an exchange or for a future purchase
