Pedersoli RMH "browned" barrel has light rust on the outside

It's actually very light rust (but it's not the browning itself). I want to remove it without damaging the brown patina from the factory. Any recommended products and/or techniques? Thanks.

Yep - just needs some oil - which is how a rust browned barrel is treated to stop further rusting, particularly after it's just been done and then of course, throughout it's life..

Plain ol' gun oil will remove the rust? I know it will prevent it. I bought it rusty (I swear!) and have been keeping it oiled since.

It's after rust from an incomplete neutralizing of the browning. Had a Browning Mountain Rifle that upon receiving it new, continued to rust right through the oil. Finally degreased it w/ mineral spirits, washed it w/ Dawn followed by a warm rinse. When dry, applied household ammonia, let it soak in, rinsed and dried it and then applied oil.....no more rusting.....Fred.

Use some 0000 steel wool and oil or WD-40. It will take the rust down but not take the brown off. You don't have to scrub, just light pressure. It also works on blueing, light pressure won't take the blue off either.
