LOL. The swamps been frozen over for about a month and a half now. Had a LOUSY deer season. Just one in the freezer. But fortunately it was taken with a 54.Cal patched round ball. First one taken like that for me. Dropped like a rock. Now its time to focus on turkeys. Gotta get myself a smooth bore.

P.S. Hope I spelled everything ok. I know Cappers watching :hatsoff:

Glad to hear that pretty thunderstick you have has put some meat in the freezer!

I've been busy with my 10 ga. SxS knocking pheasants out of the sky!

I'm going deer hunting this coming week on a private farm. I'll post any results!

In the meantime make sure that pretty Pedersoli gets a little moisture on the stock so that the wood doesn't dry-out.

Be warm & well and let's hope that the Swamp unfreezes at some point :haha: .

You still got deer season in February? My last day of antlerless deer hunting was Jan. 16.

I have a .54 Rocky Mountain in walnut. It shoots as well as any muzzleloader i have. Its not uncommon to stack one ball on top of each other at 50 meters.

I bought mine almost three years ago and loved that rifle ever since.
It is a maple .54 caliber that looks as good as it shoots. The barrel is the same as those Pedersoli uses in the Mortimer, a well known 100 meters tack driver successfully used in international competitions.
The 1:65 twist and deep rifling is perfect for patched round ball at any distance and shoots as well light or heavy loads.
I load a .530 round ball and a 0.015 or 0.018 pillow ticking patch over 55 grains of fffg Swiss powder for 50 meters target practice. For longer distance I scale up from 100 to 120 grains of ffg Swiss powder.

You can’t be disappointed by the Rocky Mountain, it’s one of the best guns Pedersoli produces.

Because of the positive reviews of this rifle, I drove over to the Sidney, Nebraska Cabela's store and picked up one for myself. I haven't shot it yet but it looks darn good. Fiddleback maple stock, nice inletting, color case hardened metalwork, good stock finish and all screws are "timed" so that the slots are aligned with the long axis of the rifle. The only fault I can find is that the hammer spring might be a tad too strong, but that can be carefully remedied. I don't think anyone would be sorry to own and shoot this rifle.

Ya.....I was really leaning towards one, when they were one there website for $899.
Then a couple days ago, I checked and they are up to $1099 !!!
It's the closest thing to what I want, but for that kinda money, think I'll just build one the way I want it.
Oh, ya mind me asking what you paid ?

Congratulations, they are really nice guns. They shoot great. But on all of mine I had to replace the nipple right off. Any of the aftermarket nipples work better than Pedersoli's.

Gents and Ladies:
The wind calmed down yesterday and I put a few rounds thru my new Pedersoli Hawken. Off the bench at 65 yds using 80 gr. of Elephant 2F, Hornady .530 ball, .010 prelubed patch and RWS cap gave a three shot group of about 2". The first two shots were touching and the third was just outside about 1 1/2 ". I'm very pleased. I even had a witness!
