Pedersoli Rocky Mtn Hawken

Howdy. Does anyone here own one of these ghost guns in a walnut stock? I would love to see some pictures of it. I’ve hinted around at getting one for years really, but never could find decent pictures of them in walnut, I don’t really want maple mainly because that oil sheen they have is a real turn off. I know they are spendy, but I can’t help but like them.

Not much of a difference between the LYman/Gemmer and the Pedersoli Rocky Mountain other than the rear sight and they are way cheaper and in walnut. You can always add the pedersoli sight later. Both are available in a roundball or a 1-24 twist same as the Pedersoli but the 1-24 Pedersoli is the Missouri River Hawken

The Gemmer/GPR does look dang near identical. I just picked up one up too. I just think I’m addicted

I can understand that. I think my guns are doing the nasty and reproducing in the gun safe.

A fellow could strip the factory sheen finish off and use a simple oil finish; I have a Pedersoli Mt. Rifle I won at raffle, maybe shot once by original owner. It has the glossy finish on the maple stripe, but the metal parts all fit so nicely, I hesitate to take it apart to re-finish. Walnut's nice, too! Good luck!

Mine have the audacity to do it right out in the open on the gun rack! I tell ya what.

I have read from older forum posts of the people who have owned or do own a Rock Mtn Hawken don’t want to let go of it or regret it, all say the Maple stocked ones are gorgeous!

Mine cost me $20 in raffle tickets at a local club raffle; a dealer puts a nice black powder gun up for raffle and uses the proceeds to help fund junior activities. Sometimes an older member will leave guns to the club in a Will. Mine had been shot maybe once, a bit of rust at the muzzle, but clean otherwise. I'm very happy. A friend won a minty Zouave musket at one of their raffles and is learning about that.

If I'm not mistaken when Lyman and Investarm had their parting ways the Pedersoli in question was sold by Lyman as the GPR Signature Series. I have one but it's a flint lock version and a kit rifle, so finish isn't the same. For whatever reason Pedersoli paired it with a sub-par lock however, it does get the job done.
The rifles are near dead ringers in factory configuration. The price difference though. Pedersoli's aren't that nice...

I have both the Rocky Mountain Hawken and the Missouri River Hawken. They each wear a maple stock that is gorgeous. Yes, they are a little on the shiny side, but gorgeous nonetheless. The fit and finish on both are great as well. While the walnut will be a little more on the "plain" side, it would still make for a beautiful rifle. I haven't played much with my fast-twist Missouri River, but my RMH will stack .530 round balls pretty much on top of each other if I do my part.

No kidding. Middway usa wants $2k for the WALNUT version. While you can get the maple for like $1800-$1900 at DGW. That is a hard pill to swallow

My wife pesters me about the amount of guns I have. The thing is, I will never get rid of any of them, as I bought them cheap, and I could never replace them at today's prices. I paid $529 for my Pedersoli RMH brand new. I love my RMH, have taken a lot of deer with it. However, it is getting noticeably heavier every year to drag thru the woods. Here is a pic from this past season, after many seasons it still looks great. Did not get my deer with the RMH this year, as I was using my Frontier Rifle (also in .54) the day I got my buck.

My Lyman Signature GPR is walnut and looks really nice. .50 cal.

I have one of the Signature series GPR Hawkens by Pedersoli, quite different from an Investarms rifle. It looks very much like the other Pedersoli Hawkens like the RMH or Missouri River

The examples I have are different in that they were made by different companies for sure but other than the sights if they were sitting on a rack behind a counter. They look like what they are, two versions of the same model of rifle.
