Sorry for the delay on an update, I got the barrel blued and most of the brass filed, sanded then polished. I am also on my 7th coat of Tru oil. Not sure how many coats I need but the small pores don’t want to fill. Really hesitant to use any steel wool or sand paper to bring the finish down to reapply to fill the pores. I did make a phone call to Birchwood Casey and was told to leave the stock cure for 2 weeks before any aggressive handling. I am doing the refinishing in my basement that’s about 60-70 degrees and 30ish % humidity. Allowing 12 hours between coats.
