I had a quick glimps of a Pedersoli at my favorite gunstore flint .45 Kentucky style 475.00 ,I ' thinking of looking into it further, I did'nt have time yesterday..

I think $475.00 sounds a little steep. Was ya able to get a look at the bore an general condition of it? Lock good etc.?

I'm not bad mouthing the .45 but I will say that hunters prefer the heavier .50 and .54 calibers.

The larger caliber balls weigh more and at hunting ranges they have quite a bit more knock down power.

Why am I mentioning this?

Because, when you go back to that store you should act very reluctant to pay that much for a gun in that caliber.

Mention the things I said at the start of this post. Mention that finding a .440 or .445 diameter roundball is getting to be kinda hard any more, what with all of the .50 and .54's popularity.

If you do a good job, you might be able to get the seller to knock $100 off of the price.
That would bring the cost down a lot closer to what it should be.

No I did not get a real close look at it,as a matter of fact I'm nt sure its even a Pedersoli I bought some other items and I was headed out the door looked at the tag from a distance and had my baby granddaughter with me ,It could hav been new not used blur it looked like a Pedersoli and that looked like the price.
As for the strategy,I understand,I dealt with this gent for 40 years,he will give me a fair price but he does not need to know I want a .45 ,I have a.50a.54 and a,36anda12ga..

If it is a Pedersoli Frontier rifle, $475 is just a bit more than half the cost of a new one. Not a bad price at all.

The Pedersoli Kentucky is my favorite Pedersoli. It is smaller than the Frontier.
I guess that being said, I consider the Kentucky to be the better gun. It's lock is way more better than the Frontier.
Cabela's has run the Kentucky on sale for $499 recently. I got mine a few years ago on sale when the price was $449. Use this for a guide.
On a side note the Kentucky and the TC Seneca make a “fantastic duo”. I can't recommend the Frontier.

Oh, one more thing, the barrel is pinned in if that makes any difference to you. The Frontier is not pinned.

I had the Cabela's Blue Ridge (Pedersoli Frontier) until recently when I sold it because frankly, I just had too many rifles and didn't need it anymore. Although my other rifles are mostly custom guns, I'm not sure that I might not end up regretting selling the Pedersoli some day. I really liked mine, killed a bunch of deer with it and think that it's generally underestimated and underappreciated on this board. If the Kentucky has a better lock and is a few hundred clams cheaper, I'd think it would be a GREAT buy.

i have a Pedersoli Frontier in .50 caliber Flint and i *LOVE* it!

very fast lock, never had misfires.
have a wooden patchbox installed in mine.
its easy to diassambly for cleaning.
99cm barrel gives you enought weight to the muzzle - easy to aim - good trigger - nice gun over all.
