I was asked if I could make a German/Pennsylvania Dutch style horn for a member here, but I explained that I don't really do commission work any more. I was interested in making one though (I love creating American Folk Art), and showed him the finished horn and it fast became his.
I used colored, waterproof India Ink on this one (Horn #33).
This horn (12.5" long) was an enjoyable thing to decorate, though honestly, coming up with the actial design motifs and elements, and drawing and re-drawing them on the horn, took as much time, (if not more?) than actually engraving and coloring the piece. It came out nicely, though, and is a nice accompaniment to his Jaeger rig.
