I've got a very nice M1816 type III, sighted smoothbore percussion alteration by J. Hitchcock for sale. The musket is very nice. The stock is in great shape, and has a visible cartouche on the stock flat. The metal is all in excellent condition, bright and pitting free. Bore is nice. Really a good looking gun.
The percussion alteration is a chambered breech type very similar to the Hewes & Phillips type 3 bolster, but it is not stamped H&P. The top edge of the lock forward of the bolster is marked with a mating number, which is a feature of the Hitchcock alterations.

Thanks,
Garrett
