Our reenacting unit (War of Northern Agression) would like to aquire a couple of inexpensive percussion double guns. I have done some searching (seems everyone wants to sell $2000.00 English fowlers), but I am getting frustrated. Any good links?

That's a pretty good deal since they sell new for over $600 now on the Dixie Gun Works site. I just swapped Rebel the Frontier Rifle that I got from him back to him for a double. I plan on putting some Ampco musket cap nipples on it since I've got a lot of musket caps left over from a '63 Sharps that I used to own plus it'll help give it a hotter cap that still "traditional" in nature. I think I'll save up and get a London Navy (steel backstrap and trigger guard like the originals) to match up with it. That way I'll have a smoothbore/pistol set from the 1860's(Navy Arms double 12ga/'51 Navy pistol) and a "matching" set of modern guns(Mossberg 500a Turkey gun/Ruger KP-95), kind of an "old meets new" kind of deal.LOL.

Very good deal, I've been keeping a eye on the gun auction sites and even trying to do some trading with Uberti cap and ball revolvers looking for one and have noticed quite a price increase since I had my last double. Guess I'll have to adjust my price range with the years since I last had one,LOL

The market isn't exactly saturated with these guns. Most sellers now are comparing the price to the catalog pages listing these guns for up to near $800.00. That has more to do with the Lira exchange and import costs than it does the actual price of some of these guns.

Look around. I bought a darn nice 14 ga. {original}for $100.00 at a gun show. I also picked up a 10 ga. {unfired w/chokes} for $300.00 and a percussion lock.
Good luck !!
