I recently broke the mainspring on my Pedersoli capper rifle. New spring coming from the US in a week or 2. maybe. Necessity is the mother of invention. Went and bought a bag of 200 1/4 x 3 1/2" heavy elastic band, took 2 and doubled them up and looped the ends over the hammer and drum. Worked like a charm to set the caps off. I think I will paint them black maybe nobody will notice.

I saw a CVA Kentucky at a gunshow once that had a spring like from an old timey screen door hooked on the hammer and a screw in the fore-end to anchor the other end. Crude as hell but I guess ya do what ya gotta do.

If'in yer main spring gum bands wear out ,ya might go to the local hardware and git a coil spring and a couple wire ties , somethin' a little more permanent like.
