Prior to the 1900's "Recoil Pads" as known today were not invented yet.Just wondering if there's any such thing. I have a .62 caliber TVM Fowler shooting 80 grains fffg and after 8 or 10 shots that metal butt plates hurting me pretty bad. LOL
There was however H.A. Silver’s patented (1874 UK / 1875 USA) India-rubber cushion that was applied to the butt end of a stock, “by means of which the shock of the recoil when the weapon is fired off is much diminished and effects greatly neutralised.”Prior to the 1900's "Recoil Pads" as known today were not invented yet.
Yes, I appreciate that, however the specific messages I responded to was addressing “Prior to the 1900’s” and I provided some historical context within that time frame.These Ladies and Gentlemen are talking about 1774 not our era of 1874....
