Well, let me tell you. That's the question I am asking as I just screw around with it at shoots trying to nail our metallic silhouettes. Never had paper up yet to figure out where the balls are going.

May be you should set up the papaer target, find out where your balls hit and and than go on hitting the metallic silhouettes? :v

I have had several of these little derringers and have only shot them casually with .440 patched round ball. Not sure how the .445 patched ball would work.

Again, sorry to jump on you and thanks for not taking offense. Hope some of the other members have your answer.

Heck Robert you didn't do anything to apologize for. I've mis-read more than my fair share of posts before. Its hard to get a man's expressions and intents reading typed words. IMO, this pistol is totally safe to shoot as long as you don't use something like a piece of thick plywood to shoot at.

Shoot it using a dirt or sand bank as a backstop.


As for accuracy, that's hard to get when shooting a pistol that doesn't have any sights on it. :grin:

I doubt that anyone can tell you that your gun is "safe" by merely looking at a photo. IMHO

I was referring to being "safe" from the ball bouncing off the target and hitting me. I guess you should have read all the posts and you would have understood that...

I usually shot 25 grains of 3 FFF in mine and it had no problem blowing holes thru the 1/2" plywood backstop from 10yds. It could shoot a 2" group at that distance too...but I did have a bead on the front for a sight...
make sure you use a tight ball and patch combo...that will keep your velocity up...

Sorry, my mistake. Perhaps it was your use of "..convince me that this pistol is functional.." that confused me.
