Yagee

nice deer! thats even bigger than the 10 i got with my t/c :)

on a side note... how do u like those lacross boots? i got a pair recently and now i wear em all the time. put the huntin boots in the closet!! :g

The manufacturer's name is LaCrosse.
These are 18" high top uninsulated rubbed boots with a snug fitting ankle to keep them in place better than most slip on rubber boots...they have somewhat of a slim profile, easy to slip around in the woods without making much noise still hunting, etc.

They became available in the early 90's and were primarily promoted for use with bow hunting...minimize leaving scent, etc...and while LaCrosse makes a huge line of hunting boots, waders, etc...these caught on quickly among hunters and simply became referred to as "those LaCrosse boots" or something like that.

I believe the actual model designation of this style is the 18" LaGrange boots.

Actually you're seeing me around noon stripped down to a T-shirt after dragging that dead weight a few hundred yards!
I started with layers of warm stuff plus insulated overalls in the dark that morning but it warmed up into the 50-60's by mid-day.

Good luck with your hunt !

bill: hope some of that smoke you burned went up north this year I need all the luck I can find,it's been two years now since I got a buck getting tired of those little does I pass on :hmm:

That is a fine animal. The shot is excellent. I am just wondering did you get an exit and would you have chose a shoulder shot if you would have had your trusty 45cal. Just wondering! Also, how do you get your name in the hat for a piece of that backstrap...me being from NC and all. Just kidding...there's plenty of time left. Surely, I'll connect on one before the year is out.

This particular stand is in tight thick stuff with 4 shooting lanes overlooking a trail out of a cutover/regrowth area, and the distances are in the 30-60yd range...he was fast stepping and I was able to stop him in a lane by whistling, took the only shot he showed me which was the front point of his right shoulder...the .58cal has always given me complete passthroughs.

If I had been carrying a .45cal I would have shot him the same way as he was so close and I use strong max/near max hunting loads...would not have had a passthrough with the .45 ball but it still would have gone through his heart...shot a six pointer with the .45cal at 60yds year before last, hit a rib going in, tore through his heart and bulged the hide out on the far side...with a heart shot they always fall within site of the stand so exit wounds for trailing is usually not a major issue.

Guess you'll have to fight for backstraps with the family I gave the deer to

Very Nice Buck Roundball!!
I can tell that those Lacrosse Boot don't carry much much scent.
In the second picture of yourself,Did you know you had a nice Buck smelling your Boots?
