I started working on my Lancaster M/L Thought I'd share a picture one of my homemade parts. No power tools used here, did the Armstrong method. More to come later.

I'll practice my engraving on on some scrap before attempting to cut on this part. Don't want to make another one because of a bad "ooops"

Nice job, thats the way it's done. My only concern is the drilling of both holes, unless of course the lock is already drilled.
One tip to save a few bucks on brass, is instead of buying it from Track or MBS, or a hobby shop is to buy a solid brass door kick plate at Home Depot, this will give you enough brass for many projects at a fraction of the cost. I was able to pick up four for five bucks a piece at a Habitat for Humanity store, I think I'm about set for life. Bill

Most door kick plates are too thin (1/16") for a side plate, but perfect for a patchbox. I bought 1/8" leaded yellow brass in a 12" X 12" plate (sheet) from MSC for about $40. That should last a few years.
