Wow! Bummer! I am really cornfused. I use Firefox for a browser but I went back to my Internet Explorer and I do see the photos I posted, both in the original thread under the heading of "Percussion" and in this thread under "Picture Viewing Problems". I am now answering you in IE.

I fully understand what you are saying about the "img" and the "." having to be removed in order to view the photo when it is posted as a URL but in both cases I have also posted the photo using the forum's image posting procedure as well as just the URL in this thread. But it seems as though you are still only seeing a URL with "img" after the // and the "." at the end of the sentence where the photo is supposed to be.

When I click on the properties of the photos I get the photo's URL which does include the "img" at photobucket and I did use copy and paste to put the URL into the Instant UBB Code for an image. This avoids the typos that I am famous for.

:sorry: I am very sorry for all of this and don't understand why you are not seeing the pictures as I do. Last attempt to post picture and I am using IE to do it. I hope it works! It is at the top of this message and the photo does appear in the message preview for me. :peace:

OK, Frank asked me to post a reply about what I found when I compare Firefox and Internet Exployer (IE) with this viewing problem. Firefox it appears to display the images correctly each time I have used it. I also checked it with Opera, Mozilla Browser, Firefox, and IE. The only one of the group that has a problem is IE, it is also the only one of the group that is not completely compliant to the xml/html standards the rest of the world uses. I believe that is where the problem lies, not with a server or the way a post is coded. Even looking at the code that is generated by the Forum server software codes the posts is coded to these standards. If you are using IE and have not done all possilbe MS windows updates I would encourage you to do so, this may help with this problem, I am totally up to date and am still having problems with IE displaying these images. My suggestion would then be to try a different browser, I greatly prefer Firefox (a link to download it was posted earlier) :m2c:

In my work I deal with people who have many problems and among the most common problems are MS software problems because they don't seem to fix a problem just wait until a hacker creats a security problems then slap a band-aid on it, and then only after customers have had problems for months. I said good bye to IE about a year ago and I have worked to eliminate the other questionable programs from MS from my systems. I would encourage you to do the same. :imo:

Interesting. The forum even looks nicer in Firefox, now that I saw it in IE. But I can still display the photo with no problem using my IE 6.0 with an SP package. However, Stumpkiller said that most of the fellers are probably using IE so it would be nice to do what is needed to have things work for them, even if they are using an older version of IE.

I want to try it one last time and I will eliminate the "img" that photobucket puts at the beginning of the URL for their photo address. The "." that Stumpkiller was referring to was just a period at the end of the sentence containing the link. I added that and should not have to avoid confusion.

Technutz, see if you can view the photos below with NO PROBLEMS in IE. I would imagine most of the computers you have at work are updated but if you have an older version of IE laying around on one, could you give that a try too. I will insert both versions of the URL, the first with "img" and second without it. I can see both photos with Firefox and I will see what I get after I post it with IE 6.0.

OK, I can see both in IE. It looks the same.

I still would use Firefox over IE. Especially after all the hoopla about viruses that are transmitted by .jpg files, and other imgage files. So I would say beware and make sure you use a good browser. IE is one of the programs that is vulnerable. So at this point beware IE! :m2c:

Not to be too alarmist.

:yakyak:

Just what I was afraid of - I see both photos with no problem in my IE 6.0xxx. So it may be just compatibility problems with an older version of IE.:results:

I will very gingerly ask Stumpkiller to take one last look at the above post and see which photos he can see. I will also ask him to click on his IE Help button and then About Internet Explorer to determine which version he may be running. If he sees the photo without the "img" OK, that is the way we need to post photos so there is less problems for the majority of the guys. :peace:

Technutz,

Just got a PM from Stumpkiller and it is working for him today!::

Photbucket says they had a catastrophic failure and photo albums were lost. They believe all is fixed as of yesterday. Maybe a glitch on their end. Who knows. They encourage everyone to double check their photos albums and reload them as needed.

But for now anyway:
If it ain't broke - Don't fix it! :haha:
Where's the Tylenol?
