TrapperDude, Hi. Yes, I have seen new ones currently unavailable on Midway. So maybe like you say they are beefier cylinders?

The current offerings all have better steel as well as slightly tapered chambers in the case of the Uberti.

A limited number came from the factory with the brass grip frame. For a time there was also an aftermarket brass dragoon frame available for the Old Army. I’ve never found one I would buy for the asking price so I’ve resorted to using the Super Blackhawk Dragoon frame or the aftermarket version offered by Clark and others.

I'd like to have a brass grip frame, but the only one I know of is RW for $350 - more than I'm willing to go. I didn't see on Clark's site that they sell grip frames for the ROA. Do you have any links? And what do you consider a reasonable price?

I see we have another Midway fan here. I've gotten into trouble with the wife over too many Nitro Shipping boxes arriving from time to time.

I tried to call them Christmas presents, but my wife started to make them apply to future Christmases. Now, I just try to both downplay the overall impact of the orders and tell her how much I need the stuff.

That quit working a long time ago. The final straw was when she saw me doing the first cleaning on my new Colt 1860 Army I just got--without asking first.

Sorry about that, apparently no longer available. Midway has them for the new model which means you will need to figure out a trigger spring. Or con Mike into making a trigger spring for you.
