I must be behind the times or don't know what I'm looking for but I can't find any of the parts supliers that sell pistol barrels. I have a couple of stocks and locks and would like to eventually build a couple of pistols, but I can't find any barrels. I thought GreenMountain was making them but I don't see them listed on their site or on any of the sites that sell their products. Please tell me what I'm missing?

Try www.thegunworks.com They'll make anything you want, just got a 12" by 7/8" oct .40 fast twist for bout 70 bucks. They make rifle, smooth & pistol bbl. Really good people to know, been using their services 30 yr...Tom

You might try looking around Muzzleloader Builder's Supply.

Here is a link to some of their pistol barrels.

I'm not sure why I don't see any straight octagon pistol barrels there but you might give them a call.
They offer some Kentucky Pistol kits and they would use octagon barrels so maybe he has some extra in the back room?

I know Ed Rahl made pistol barrels for MBS for years. Ed doesn't have a web site but someone might know how to call him.
I know that's what I had to do when I wanted to build my .45 cal, 3/4" octagon barrel pistol.
The barrel he supplied was excellent. :)

I was trying to build a 62 cal smoothbore pistol. Bought a barrel from Dixie first. Turned out to be a welded barrel and a weld seam inside the barrel that was 1/8" high. Went to Muzzleloader Builder's Supply. They made a nice barrel but it turned out to be 60 cal instead of 62. They apologized and said "they didn't catch it during production". Muzzleloader Builder's Supply is the best option I found, you just never know caliber it's gonna be when their finished. I'm considering cutting down an old rifle barrel.

Hi,
Troy Roop at Stonewall Creek Outfitters in Virginia usually has a good stock of Rayl pistol barrels, some by Burton, and also Rice.

Aside from the fast twist of typical pistol barrels, there is really nothing wrong with using a cut down rifle barrel for a pistol. Plenty of very accurate pistols have been built around them. As long as you have the ability to cut a barrel down and breech it the rifle barrel offers a much cheaper alternative.

I found what I was looking for at The Gun Works and placed an order. Thanks for all the suggestions.
