Being just a poor college student, I work at Walgreens...It somtimes sucks but it's a job at least. While closing tonight I walked passed the polident and Walgreens effervescent denture cleaner tablets and wondered...what if you filled your barrel with water and dropped in a tablet and let it sit...
Think it would clean the barrel decently? Or what about using baking soda or powder or whichever one it is that reacts with water instead of vinegar...
I don't think I'm going to try out this effervescent barrel cleaning system but I thought it was at least worth a laugh. :hmm:

And it leaves your barrel minty fresh... :haha:

There are foam cleaners that work with the same action, so I don't see why this wouldn't work...

You would have to break them up unless you are cleaning an 8 bore...

Try it on scrap steel first, place the steel directly below the muzzle for a few shots to get the black powder residue on it, then use the denture cleaner on it, if it works, fine, if not, you didn't harm your gun...

-or-

Try it on a friend's barrel without them knowing it... :haha:

If you try it , let us know if it works. :hmm: Heck you might have come onto some kind of new cleaning miricle. :applause: You could call it Johnny's muzzle clean tables.

Tepid water works great. People have been using Peroxide for years, but I think it's hard on barrels.

i've used the tablets in my old metal army canteens to git the meatl taste out of it with no damage to the metal....so i would think the the barrel metal is a bit harder then a canteen....just a thought....i use it in my bota bag too thats rubber....gits rid of that nasty taste.............bob

Why?? alittle water and soap works great on fouling and it's cheap. Your making a simple thing harder than it needs to be. Anyhow Polident is a oxgenator and probally would rust steel..ssettle.

Yeah I know, it was just a thought...would be neat to try it out but yeah water works good i hear...I am going to try that soon...
