I found plans to make one. I am still working on a second one.

This luggage bag dates back to the 1600's. A smaller bags would strap behind a saddle. A larger bags would be carried behind or above a carriage.

Nice job! you going to dye that?, if so I'd suggest an oil base dye,won't harden the leather. Where did you find the directions for that?

What Color dye would you suggest? & where can I get a oil base dye?

My wife found the directions from a liberty book her work [A collage] and printed it out for me.

I also had taken photos of a bag from a skilled bag maker who made these bags at a Rendezvous I went to a few weeks back.

You can find Fiebings oil base dye at most leather suppliers, make sure it's oil base, if you use the alcohol base it will have a tendency to harden the leather, you can always use a home brewed vinegaroon dye, that will usually give veg tan a dark grey/black color then finish with boot polish or any good leather dressing

LUGGAGE :shocked2: :shocked2: !!!!!!!!that's a TRUNK! Nice job WD are those sides wood? what are you going to finish it with? color etc.?

Yes the sides are 1/4” wood, And The wood is stained with Gun-stock 231 stain & sealer finish. Has a reddish color.
12”high x 14” long x 8”wide at the top and 6” at the bottom.
