Hi,
Folks use this site to learn how to build muzzleloading guns and they get lots of advice. However, much of that advice is not accompanied by any photos proving its worth. Moreover, a picture is worth many words with respect to passing on information. So let's see more posts with photos when providing advice. There are some like Fred Lehto and Eric Krewson who always back up their posts with photos. Personally, I take advice from someone who never posts photos of their work with a grain of salt.

Mr Person, with all due respect Sir, I for one find it quite difficult to learn how to post pictures. Every time someone tries to tell me how to do it I get confused over the "computer lingo" There are so many things I do not know how to do on a computer.
I am a novice builder (2 rifles) and I am proud of my accomplishments. If I could learn this dadgum computer stuff I would surely put up the pics.
I hope others with more puter savvy will take yer advice cuz I do love to see others work.............Chawbeef

Go to https://imgbb.com/

Click on the blue Start Uploading button

A window will open and you can navigate to the picture on your computer that you want to upload

Select the picture you want and click the Open button in the lower right of the window

You will see a copy of your image and a green Upload button - click on the button

You will see a message that says Upload Complete and a message box below the words Embed Codes with a down arrow to the right - click on the arrow and select BBCode thumbnail linked

There will be an area below that will show a long sting of text and symbols - on one end and on the other end with a button that says Copy when you hover the arrow over box containing the string of text/symbols

Click on the Copy button and paste in the response window of your message here.

When you Add Post, a thumbnail image will display in your post and clicking on the image will bring up a full-size image of your picture

Give it a try...

I agree that clear, good and closeup photos add greatly to the written word....Fred

Dave,
Since the photo fiasco of 2017, it is difficult for me to post photos and takes a lot of time.
My machine will not post photos. I can link to said photos in imugr but it will not post. For whatever reason I find the links get little response.
For me to post I have to use a bigger machine like a PC or lap top. The PC and Lap Top will post while my phone and pad, does not.
It takes roughly an hour to upload a photo from my device to the host, then there's editing. Our speed on the mountain is so slow. My wife, a real estate agent has had forms that took days to upload. In town it takes like 2 minutes for the same form.
I'll save any comments until I post my own photos.

Hi 54ball,
I urge you to post away, don't wait until you have a better connection. I use imgur now as well. All I have to do is place the cursor on the photo and a "copy" command will appear in the upper right corner. Next to the command is a little down arrow. Click on the arrow and select "share links" and then select the option for bulletin boards and forums. It will be the lower left option. Click on "copy" and then simply paste it into your forum message. No need to use the "image" command in the reply screen menu. I understand the limits of slow connections since mine is also a DSL dinosaur that kicks me off at least once an hour.

I'm sorry I got mixed up I use Flickr.
I can post off of Flickr to the forums off a PC but I have no cursor control on this I pad.

This is the best I can do off the pad.

Is the pad IOS, Windows or Android?
If Windows, try Touchmousepointer http://www.lovesummertrue.com/touchmousepointer/en-us/
I put it on my tablet as the touchscreen was a nuisance to use for anything that needed precision.

With IOS or Android, I'm certain there is an App that can be downloaded that will do the same.

For what it's worth, as I'm not super tech savvy, I'm finding posting photos from IMGUR easier than from the "bucket" and have had success doing so from my smarty pants phone.

And for what it's worth. Post good pictures, taken squarely at the piece. Not at an angle. It gives a distorted view.
Use adequate light, natural light is best.flashes and light bulbs give too much glare.an overcast day with a nuetral background gives best results.
It's hard for people to give good advice without a good picture.

Black Hand

thanks for the step by step instructions. It was very helpful for me.

Hey! If I can do it, anybody can!

Anyway, The rifle in my pics is one I built over the spring\summer months last year. Made from a very nicely grained American walnut blank, L&R Bailes lock, Green Mountain 45 cal. 42" barrel. Hand made iron\steel butt plate and the rest modified iron\steel furniture.

The building bug persists with my current project a somewhat incorrect Germanic short rifle in 60 caliber Getz 31" swamped barrel, and a Chambers Dale Johnson flintlock. Stocking with a very fine piece of curly ash. :shocked2:

I agree, I am also a fan of plain. I have a Dickert patch box for my Lancaster build but at this time I don't think I will use it...........Chawbeef
