I wanted some of your opinions about mixing powders. Say you had 1/4 of a can of Goex 3f and you mixed it with 3/4 of a can of Shutzen 3f would you have any safety concerns? I'm no expert on making my own powder but wanted opinions. I do realize the different companies powders are different so you might not get the same performance in the loads you have worked out but that would be a different topic.

Thanks for you answers in advance...

The way I store my power is a little limited so I was thinking about saving some space with the half full cans.
just send the half cans to me! win win!
you could always mix a round of loads to test the difference in performance first before you mixed it all.
if you need to dispose of those empty's i would love to have them.

I’ve picked up some elephant. Not real good powder. I mix 1/4 cup to 3/4 cup go and it shoots well.
Black powder is roughly the same, Salt Peter, charcoal and sulfur. Differences come in the ratios. It’s not like modren powders that can have very different performances. I knew one old timer that mixed 1,2and 3 his thinking was that it made it closer to old powder. The biggest issue he had was it tended to layer in storage 1 on the bottom and 3 on top.

No safety concerns, but have to ask why? Consistency is your friend. I would figure out if there is any performance difference between the two and buy more of the one that works best in the gun I was shooting, and save the other to try in other guns. Or maybe just shoot it up. But see no reason to mix it. But that’s not what you asked. It would be safe, so mix and shoot I guess.
