A tapered spout hole and some attention to making sure that the transition between the cavity of the horn and the spout hole is smooth and free of burrs are also helpful.
Along those lines, have you made shot horns? I'm considering it. But in my experience fashioning wood or horn nozzles for leather shot flasks, dimensions are pretty critical for avoiding "bridging" of the shot to assure free flow when pouring. Some readjusting is often necessary to get it just right, and it's relative to shot size.
I welcome any insights you can share. :hatsoff:
I have not. Sorry. I'm still working on perfecting my powder horns....
Best idea I can offer is to make up a dummy out of wood or something to test hole sizes.
