Maybe try some cereal box cardboard punched to a diameter Very slightly larger than the measurement from bottom of rifling groove to bottom of rifling groove. Then/or maybe try some fiber automotive gasket material of you can't find the wads I'm referring to.
These seem close, but from the (admittedly poor quality) picture, they look a little thicker than what I was using.
