Pretty good wood for ‘semi-fancy’ from Jim Kibler!

I too assembled one for a friend. He ordered a piece of plain maple for a SMR in 40cal. The stock was pretty highly figured when it arrived and came out nice. Can't imagine what a higher grade would have looked like.

All this talk makes me want to build a SMR in 45 Cal. Why can’t Money grow on Trees. LOL..

I’ve often heard he had good sources of wood, but WOW, I have stripes for the full length and on both sides! The only place where there aren’t as many stripes is on the patch box, but maybe that will come out once nitrated and stained. Look at the stripes in the tiger-striped wood!

I'll periodically update (in the builder’s Forum) w/ build pictures.

FYI, I will be making this Kibler muzzleloader kit, a 54-cal Colonial flintlock longrifle, for my best friend who had lost wife last July to ALS, 3-months from diagnosis to passing. So I gotta git to it …

Now it’ll never remove the pain he’ll always carry by any means … but I want him to have it before the anniversary of her passing. At least this should give him something to look forward to, for next Fall.

French red stain would really make that grain POP ! Nice stock wood !

Sometimes you get more than you paid for when dealing with good people. My .32 has a nicely figured stock, I ordered it with just a plain stock.

I don't know Kibler but I can tell he is a smart and talented business man. He is getting probably thousands of dollars worth of free advertisement from this good deed making a very happy and probably repeat customer.
I've heard it said that an unhappy customer will often tell ten people of his disappointment on average and a happy customer will tell three or four.
Well Kibler got a well deserved bonus I would say on this good deed and good for him!
