I have a chance to buy a used CVA 32. cal squirrel rifle. It's clean, appears to be in good shape, lock and set triggers appear to check out. Finish is good. It seems less front heavy than the traditions crockett and it has a flatter style brass buttplate. What I can see of the bore seems o.k. Does $250.00 seem like a reasonable price? I've done some internet searching and found little info. I assume that they are not made anymore. Thanks for any feedback that you care to offer.

last two I saw were selling for $135 at a pawn shop and $145 on a flea market table. Both were well used with frosty bores, browish looking barrels that still had some bluing visible. The flea market gun was the worst of the two, lots of rust around the bolster and lock area.

Unless it is the Mountain Rifle (which I know it's not), I wouldn't give over $150 for it.
In my opinion most of the CVA rifles in good condition are worth between $120 and $150 (except the Bobcat which is worth about $60).

Talking is good! I'm selling this gun as a marital citizenship ploy. My wife is awful; she lets me do whatever I want (except for the twins, of course 
) as long as "it's what you really want to do". Puts all the pressure on me, with her no-arguing strategy. Anyway, I recently bought an antique small-bore and I just ordered one of Don Stith's (St. Louuis Plains Rifle Co.) Gemmer Hawkins parts sets on a Christmas special I couldn't pass up. ("On sale" is a respected credo with She Who Must Be Obeyed), but still, I thought a little public sell-off of now not-to-be further used guns might smooth things out a little.

He did. I'm just preparing for the hassle of shipping it. Man, I'm left of center myself, but you just say "firearm" here in California and it's all over, "antique" or "muzzleloader" notwithstanding. It is possible to take a muzzleloader to the UPS main depot and ship it, but it's easier to just take it down, which I would do anyway, and ship it in two separate packages, one labeled "gunstock" and the other "gun barrel".

Speaking of the crockett being front heavy, I bought a brass ramrod for mine which makes it even more so. I think it makes for a bit steadier aim though. :winking: The cva looks very nice, I'm sure you'll enjoy it.
Sorry for not reporting in sooner. I have had to put together and deliver two presentations for work. I did purchase the CVA Squirrel rifle.
Paper Tiger did right by me! He is a standup guy. :hatsoff: He wrapped and shipped it well. It is a real sweet little gun! He truly did a very nice job in constructing the kit.
I took it to the range on the same day that it came. It is fun to shoot and I love the feel and the balance. I loaded with 20 grains of fffg triple 7 and tried two different thicknesses of prelubed patches. It grouped very well with either. It gives a nice crack of a report but no kick.
Now I'm fiddling with the sights to get them to line up with my old and crooked eyes. By the way, does anyone know what twist rate the barrel is? It isn't stamped on the barrel as some are.
For me, I can honestly say that I like the feel of this gun better than that of the Crockett that I had just purchased the week before. LOL. Thanks again, Paper Tiger!
