For sale a .50 caliber, unfired southern rifle. 42 inch, 7/8 inch diameter, Colerain barrel with round groove rifling, Davis lock, hand forged trigger guard and ramrod thimbles. No butt plate. Tang forged out to a long spear point. LOP 13 3/4 inches, weighs 8.3 lbs. but balances nicely. Nice piece of curly maple.

When I was inletting the trigger guard I noticed the ramrod hole was fairly close to the surface in that area. Probably would not have been a problem but I installed a brass wear plate just to make sure.

Just a simple, sturdy rifle that could have been made by a rural gunstocker/blacksmith in the south.

$1,150 includes shipping in a wooden box. Postal money order.
Price reduced to $1,050 including shipping.
