Problems with barrel wedge

I've got a Cabela's sporterized Hawken hunting rifle. I can't keep the barrel retaining wedge in it. It will viberate out just handling the gun. Any suggestions (short of super glue)?

Lay the wedge across the jaws of a vise or something, and genty tap it in the middle to put a slight bow in it...reinsert it with the bow down and that should tighten things right up...just a very slight bow, add or subtract bow as necessary.

And, when tapping the pin into the escutcheons, make sure you are holding the barrel down tightly into the bed and tap it in gently to ensure it's not hung up on anything.

You can bend the wedge (key) a little bit at a time until it tightens up or you can take the barrel out and using a hammer and a punch bend the wedge tennon inward until it rubs on the wedge and gets tight. I think most people bend the wedge.

Ive done this on more then one rifle and am happy with it....Either way go slow so as NOT to over do it; Just enough is Just right.

Bending the tenon, not the wedge itself, is the way shown in the GPR kit.. I didn't need to do it, but my buddy did on his, no problem, fits up nice now.

Thanks guys, I appreciate your help. I'll take the gun apart here in a few minutes and take a closer look at the tenon.

This gun means a lot to me. My late wife gave it to me our first Christmas together. It shoots spot on out to a hundred yards, too!
