Purge the butter

We shoot year around, down to zero and less. By the third shot, the ball is stuck halfway down the barrel, and there it stays until the gun is warmed up.

Fair enough. I have used it in the winter without issue but it does not get that cold here. The coldest I have used patches lubed with it is probably 28 -30 degrees.

I draw the line at -20F...colder than that takes most of the fun out of it.

How do you know the bullet lube you use is more or less accurate?
Are you locking the rifle in a ransom type rest?

No matter what ya season a barrel with , or how ya cook it , they still ain't good ta eat. Only season a barrel is good is squirrel season , or deer season.

I have to agree, spit would dry out. Butter will have salt in it along with the oils, but better than bacon fat.
