Question about arbor shim

One more question please, you all helped me out with my Walker cylinder question, and I have one more question regarding my 1860 pietta sheriff model. After the conversation on the Walker, I checked the cylinder gap on my 1860, and a dollar bill will not fit between the cone and cylinder. I cut a thin shim from the top of a cat food can top, and now the wedge will not go all the way through. It might if I drove it with a hammer, but that doesn’t seem right. I don’t know how much of a thinner shim I can get. Any suggestions?

Doe's the barrel lug meet the lower frame firm with no gap? you may need a thinner shim. What is the barrel/cylinder gap? You really need a set of feeler gauges to properly determine the gap. Feeler gauges can bought at any auto parts place and most hardware stores. I would try some small washers first and see where the gap at both places come out to.

It shoots fine, so if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it then I guess.
