As I'm sure many of you are aware, certain elements burn a certain color. Copper, for instance, burns green. Do you guys reckon it would be possible to add trace amounts of copper to the black powder to make the muzzle flash a greenish color? Or better yet, maybe someone on here is brave/foolish enough to try.

Ask the Chinese. They add all kinds of stuff to make colored fireworks.
 
Copper will burn blue

As Rifleman suggested, fireworks are probably a good reference.
