Questions about choosing a first full-stock flintlock.

I have a number of longrifles and a couple of half-stock carbines, plus I have 6 more in different stages of completion. That said, I think I'd like ONE more rifle after getting those 6 built. I'll be 60 years old in the spring, don't hunt as much as I used to and obviously have PLENTY of flintlock rifles already, but that .54 Woodsrunner is just almost too nice to ignore and I think I'll be purchasing one (I'll use my own curly maple stock blank) when I come into a few bucks that I feel comfortable "wasting" on something that I don't need.

I just put together a WR 54 and you won't be disappointed.

I waited a year to buy the kit and wish I hadn't waited that long.

My comparison is a PA longrifle my late dad, RIP, left me and while I want to love his longrifle for the sake of nostalgia it's like trying to aim a railroad tie when compared to the WR 54.

You need to hold the WR to appreciate it, and I keep mine on the entertainment center just so I can pick it up every once in a while. Thankfully I have a patient wife to cope with my OCD so I got that going for me which is nice...

I'm 78 and acquiring the guns I'd like to have and use looks more and more urgent. So..... why wait? It's not a waste.

Given that you used to a short rifle, I would suggest Jim Chamber’s Little Fellers flintlock rifle. It’s basically a carbine compared to a full length rifle. It is full stock that comes in 40, .45 or .50 caliber.

I would second, third, fourth Kiblers Woods Runner. My son built the kit last year, after shouldering that rifle, I ordered myself one.
