Not only are the T/C loaders convenient, they work well when your hands are frozen.
Fumbling around my hunting bag for separate components in cold and snow conditions with frozen fingers is not a pretty sight. :haha:
New guy here from West Virginia. I have used the T/C speed loaders before and they worked great. I have got to the point that I just carry a .50 cal. Hawken pistol as back up so if I need a second shot I just pull it out. I do use the loading block with patched round balls.
Wow! Thanks for all the interesting responses! The reason I am looking at buying or making some "speed loaders" is not for a speedy second shot...but so I don't have to carry so much stuff when I am doing a stalk on a deer I want. It is easier to move around when all you have is your muzzleloader and a couple pocket loaders. I also carry an "OH CRAP" pouch that contains a few small tools if I were to have problems with the muzzleloader in the field.
Pretty neat idea there rabbit...I assume the patch that holds the ball in the .20ga hull also makes a snug fit inside the .12ga hull to keep the powder dry, and is the patch you use for the ball when loading?
