I don't like to bow hunt in the rain, mostly for how long it takes for all my stuff to dry. But I do like to hunt deer in a light rain with my flintlock.
Birds with a muzzleloader I'm not so sure, other than ducks.
But, if I spent money and travel time to be someplace special, as it sounds like the o.p. did,,,, I'd be hunting in the rain.
 
Not embarrassed. If there is a chance of real rain, I'll put an unmentionable in the truck along with the ML. When the rain turns to ice and sleet I head back home to the wood stove. As would the birds if they had a wood stove.
Honestly don't know why I have at times continued to hunt in the rain. Ducks might move. But you need to kick an upland bird to get it to fly.
