Ramrod will not go back into place and is sticking out beyond front of barrel. Help!

I am not sure how to remove the barrel. At the range I did ask some who also shoots bp/ml and he said it looks like barrel won't come off because of small pins (will post pictures later) as far as custom work don't know. Bought it used.

It was thought that these were pins that would not allow to remove barrel

Believe there are 2 cross pins that need to be tapped out, 2 screws in the muzzle cap, and 1 screw in the tang.

Is the barrel with the forearm or butt of the stock?

Here is a picture of the spring/clip I pulled from Deer Creek products. The darn things can bend if they get wedged. My guess is yours is stuck in the ramrod hole in the stock.

Do you see a channel cut in the stock with clip in it near where the front lock screw goes? Does the ramrod still stop at the lockplate screw hole if you insert it?

If you have one of those small diameter parts retrieval magnets you might try to fish the spring out of the ramrod hole.

If you find your gun had spring/clip, you will have to install it correctly, though I don’t remember that clip in the CVA Kentucky (I know it was used in other models), but I haven’t looked at one in over 30 years.

If you confirm there is no clip, likely just a sharp edge or a wood splitter hanging up the ramrod. If you find the ramrod hole in the butt section is clear, rounding or chamfering the ramrod a bit should do the trick. Once the sharp edge is removed it shouldn’t hang up any more.

You have it apart as far as nessasary, check for spring clip!

That looks like the clip. Front lock screw goes through the hole in it. Find them a PIA. You may want to see how the ramrod stays in place with out it, otherwise you will have to hold it in place with a screw a pin while you put things back together. It’s likely easier to assemble if the entire stock is removed from the barrel, but doable if you are careful. Then once together, remember not to remove the front lock screw from the stock in the future or you will have to repeat this experience.

You did good. I believe the ramrod should slide under it. The clip puts tension on the ramrod to hold it in the stock.

The ramrod should pass under the spring/clip. The clip retains it by pushing down on the rammer, friction. I can't tell from the photo but it could be bent or in upside down. It looks like you have a small crack in the stock. right side in front of the lock plate.

When I built my kit rifle l put the clip on it's on pin so I wouldn't have that problem.
