@andy52, your air compressor should remove the ram rod. Too bad you are not closer. I have one of the CO2 dischargers or there is the big tank at the range.
Thanks, I was just running a wet oil patch in the bore after last weekend wet weather to be on the safe side. I'll let you know how the compressor works out.

try removing the nipple and replacing it with a zerk grease fitting, then use a grease gun--the hydraulic force should push it right out the muzzle. Messy cleanup, but no danger of bulging or ringing the barrel shooting it out.
I've read where people have done that and I'm sure it would work but I think I'll try some cleaner ways first....;)

Your air compressor should work just fine. You could also get some stout cord and make a "noose" on one end and drop it over the ram rod and "choke" the ram rod and pull it out --- :thumb:

I had a senior moment TWICE and short started a ball over 90-gr of 2F and shot the gun not knowing what I had done until the gun went bloop instead of bang. I was sure I had ruined a nice Rice barrel every time I did it but everything was just fine, no loose spots.

I would try compressed air first, pour some oil down the bore and let it sit before you put the air to it. I don't think just a few grains of BP will do any damage to the barrel if that is your last resort.
Eric, I have done that three times and I figured my only salvation was that I was shooting a percussion with 777 powder. I'd heard about the ringed barrel, and it worried me pretty bad but nothing happened that was bad. I thought it might be because it wasn't black powder. It made a funny sound, kind of a double shot, like a flintlock can do, wasn't very loud, and it missed the target. I've changed my loading procedure to see that it doesn't happen again. The rifle involved is a 50 caliber percussion with 50 Grains of 777.
