Range box for cap and ball revolvers anyone?

My stuff is an unorganized mess for the 51 Navy. Looking for inspiration to carry the revolver and necessaries to the range like a grownup. I'm not looking for the flat presentation case layout. Probably need something vaguely like a fishing tackle box. Hoping to avoid plywood, but will likely have to use pine, which is almost affordable these days. Want it to look old-fashioned if not "antiquey."

I'm thinking to do the same thing. I'd suggest buying a single 6' pine 1"x12" and cut it to the dimensions you want. Maybe a hindged top and one deep pull out tray. I used to keep all my stuff in separate bags/duffles. One for revolvers, one for percussion rifles & shotgun, and one for flintlocks. After I reworked my cleaning bench last month I had a couple of big plastic tackle boxes empty and was able to use one to put everything in. Makes going to my range a lot easier. But a wooden box would look much better.

I’ve used a big plastic tackle box for over 20+ years. I’ve always had a hankering for a pretty wooden “period” looking box though.

This is my pistol range box. It is made from old barn boards. Revolver gets wrapped in a red shop towel during transport. Bought this and another one (wife uses it as a sewing box) at an Eastern Rendezvous many years ago. Revolver loading stand folds for transport.

For the amount of wood you will need splurge on a nice piece of figured wood. You are not framing a house, just making a fairly small box.
I bought quarter sawn sycamore for a kitchen counter and it pleases me every time I look at it. More money than Formica but definitely less than stone.

Zipps88 has one of spidermans rifle boxes. I have one of Mike's rifle boxes also. One of his pistol boxes will suit you very nicely.
He uses Spiderman317 here but uses Spiderman with a different number on AmericanLongrifle Forum.

Interesting and intriguing idea. A DYI or custom box would be rewarding and most satisfying but my reality is usually more prosaic and ready-made.

When I went to Bass Pro recently I got a range bag for $12.50. Easy to carry plus it has a shoulder strap too. The more expensive range bags run about $30 and have a couple more pockets.
