One thing that I might add to what I said earlier is that I keep a list of things that I want to take with me when I go to shoot. It is divided into two lists. One list is the basics such as the correct size balls, patches, caps, etc. That is what I put into the small ammo can that I carry to the bench. The other list is the "nice to have" extras that I want to have along but not in my range box at the bench. This list consists of the tools that I want to have along, my target stapler, extra balls, powder, patches, lube, bore cleaner for swabbing out my bore before heading home, snacks, water, extra jacket (for cool weather) my disposable rain poncho, a hat and such stuff as that. All of that stuff stays in the trunk of my car until and unless it is needed. At the bench, I go light carrying only those things that I might carry in my possibles bag if I was doing a woods walk or hunting. Don't forget that you can keep a few small extras in your pockets. That will help keep your bag, box or whatever that you carry to the bench to a minimum.
I have a beautiful large range box that has drawers and compartments in it. It opens so that the front folds down to provide a work surface. It is a real dandy and I am proud of it. I used to carry it to the bench and it always got rave reviews. But I kept adding things to it until I could hardly pick it up. That is the box that stays in the trunk of my car. Now only my small ammo can with the basics goes to the bench with me.
