Wow, Ricky! What a great piece!
I'm a big Blunderbuss fan, and have a couple.
Nothing nearly as fine as that J. Brooks gun!
Thanks for sharing and the great pics.
I found that my brass barreled .75/11Ga. kicks pretty hard with loads of 100 grns. of FFG.
I don't want to try that much in 3FG.
I keep it about a max of 80-85 grns now, to save my shoulders for daily Archery practice.
Have fun, be safe!

nice looking gun.

certainly wouldn't want to be on the wrong end of that one! for close in antipersonnel work, nothing beats a short barrel scattergun (IMHO) with the possible exception of the MP5.

Hi Bill. WOW! Can't believe this Thread is over a year old already. No, I have not tried shooting it with a single ball yet. I'm still trying  to get her back to the Range to try another pattern with a lighter load and .31 balls. But it will get done this Spring.
I was lucky to be able to get this piece. Custom made blunderbuss are seldom offered for sale. I snapped this one up while I could.
Meantime, I've been trying to get some other gun projects done. Bobby Hoyt has 5 barrels I sent him for new liners - 8 months ago!! Last time I talked to him about two weeks ago he said I should have them before Christmas. Well, today is December 24th, and still no barrels. :idunno: I was going to use the week off between Christmas and New Years to assemble the guns and Post photos of the new projects. Well, looks like it will be mid-January. (?) Rick.

Hi Bill. Merry Christmas!
Well, as of mid-December, Bobby said two of the five barrels were done, and he could ship them to me. But I told him to wait till the other three were done. I suppose it will take one more phone call by the second week of January to get them? :haha: At least I know he is close now.
Meantime, here is what I plan on posting in January: 1) A French ANXIII Pistol, 2) A pair of Turkish (Balkan) Horse Pistols with with Double Frog Holster, 3) A Turkish rifled long gun, 4) Another Turkish smooth bore long gun, 5) A Greek/Montengrin Pistol with a solid silver stock, 6) And, a really cool all Persian made long gun with miquelet lock.
So stay tuned, and hope these barrels get here soon. Thanks, Rick. :hatsoff:

I have a four bore blunderbuss and like mixing 36 caliber with 24 caliber with #8 bird shot. I load up about 5 ounces total of mixed shot over 120 grains of black powder.

Wow, is it devastating at 8-15 yards.
