range rules

Good thread even if there is little consensus. Never thought about the popping before hot issue. My club does it. Clubs may set their own rules even if they primarily stay with NMLRA dictates. Personally, I do not agree with the 'hands off' rule when the range is cold. I believe swabbing and even loading is just fine during a target change 'cold' period. The rifle, however, must remain standing upright at the loading bench. Some ranges do not allow that and when at one I obey their rules.

I see too many stupid questions asked here about how do I clean my gun, how do I load my gun, how much powder do I put in it to allow folks to piddle with guns during a cold period.


I like life and am careful with whom I shoot with.

I saw an experienced shooter shoot a hole in the bill of his cap with a pistol during a hot period....................

Where you shoot I would not.
