Hello, fellow Americans. I am in love with Hawken rifles and in the last 15 years, thanks to the internet, I have bought Hanson and John D. Baird's books on plains rifles, and specifically on Hawken. I have also studied the articles published in the 1950s by John Barsotti, about mountain men and their rifles
But I want to read the classic Horache Kephart's article published about the original hawken. I know the book was reissued in 2004. I mean "Hunting firearms and Hawken rifles". But now and also due to the coronavirus epidemic, I can't buy it from Amazon.com. They tell me they don't send it to Spain. And the fact is that I want to write a book about the Hawken rifles and the mountain men, for Spanish fans. If one of you has the book and can scan me the article on the "Hawken Rifles" it would be very important to me. I'm just asking if it's possible, ethical and legal. With this request I do not want to offend anyone. If you could, could you send it to my gmail? I am very grateful. A cordial greeting for everyone from Spain.

You may find someone on the forum who is willing to send you the copy you request by using the private messaging system we have (Called a "Conversation" with the little icon that looks like an envelope in the upper right hand area of the screen) but it is against the law and against the forum rules to make copies of copyrighted material and publish it.
Because of this, the forum will not allow such a copy to be posted here.

My suggestion is to wait until this Coronavirus 19 problem goes away and the nations of the world start opening their airports and shipping channels.
Once intercontinental commerce resumes, Amazon should start delivering things again.

Zonie, thanks so much for your reply. I will follow your advice, which is wise. Hopefully everything will be solved and you can buy the classic Horace Kephart book. But I really like Hawken rifles, ever since I was a child at the age of 10 in 1973, I saw in my town the movie "Jeremiah Johnson" directed by S. Pollack and starring Robert Redford, and although I have had quite a few "Hawken" copies of Dikar (CVA) and Ardesa (Traditions), which are made here in Spain, 200 miles east of where I live, I want to study well what the original Hawken were like. By the way, now I have Pedersoli's Rocky Mountain in caliber 54, a Dikar (CVA) mountain from 58 and I want to get a Lyman Great Plains from Investarm, also in caliber 54 and for round ball and patch. I want to compare the LGP with the Pedersoli's Hawken, to see if they are equally accurate at 50 meters and to know which is more suitable for hunting, since the Rocky Mountain weighs like the originals, a lot, and the LGP weighs 9 pounds, that is to say, one pound less.
Again thank you very much for your reply.

Don't forget another legend George Washington Sears (AKA Nessmuck). While he didn't carry a Hawken, he carried a muzzleloader well after cartridge guns were introduced.

Hi. The classic Horace Kephart book has already arrived at my home in Spain. It has been worth waiting for so many months. His chapter on the original Hawken rifles, and the test he made with one of them in 1894, is mentioned by all later authors, such as Hanson, Baird, and others. Greetings from Spain.
