Wonder about the feasibility of reaming a .54 Cal TC Renegade flintlock out to a smooth bore. If so could it be taken out to a 20 gauge? Any pros and cons or advice is appropriated!
That's just what Mr.Hoyt said to me.It will depend on the depth of sight screw holes, but according to Bobby Hoyt when I was talking to him, he could typically bore out 1” TC barrels like your Renegade to 58 caliber rifled or 60 caliber smooth. Pretty close to 20 gauge, as I believe the nominal bore diameter of the 20 is .615”.
And then there are always the surprises you find with the depth of customer drilled holes for things like mounting a scope. Have seen more than one that actually broke through to the bore.Evidently, T/C was a little careless about drilling depth for a few yrs.(random press operators)
